Hesperis matronalis 

All our seed is from the latest harvest and super fresh.

Sweet Rocket or Hesperis matronalis is one of the first cut flowers to bloom in my garden sending up fragrant spires of delicate white flowers.

Give plants support early on to prevent damage from heavy Spring rain showers.

If you can spare the space, you can leave plants to bloom again the following year, however flowering does diminish with age so I prefer to grow plants new each season.

Sweet Rocket is also wonderful for attracting beneficial insects into your garden.

Hesperis matronalis is unfussy growing well in part shade as well as full sun.

How to grow:

You can sow seeds anytime from mid summer onwards, however due to the lack of available space in my garden, I find sowing seeds in September when it’s still warm along with the Autumn Jump Starter annuals is a lot less hassle.

I sow one seed per cell onto the surface of the compost and press in gently.

Plants then require a period of cold growing temperatures to trigger flower development, this is called vernalisation.

Cutting /Vase Life:
Pick as soon as the flowers start to open, straight into ready buckets of water. We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning.
