If you keep them too warm and move them suddenly to a much colder location they will suffer from cold shock and that is when you run into problems.
Lots of questions regarding heaters so here is what I do with my list of plants to fleece.
The only time I will change this advice is if we hit a very long very cold spell, in which case I will bring my Ranunculus in overnight, but that is very rare and it won’t be for long. I will let you know, don’t worry.

A sheltered spot is one step away from growing under cover.
Its where we harden plants off before planting them in the garden.
Also many plants that are quite hardy will benefit from protection from extremes or prolonged bad weather.
Plants can also suffer actual physical damage from the weather, sometimes just by simply being blown over.
