Sweet Pea ‘Swan Cottage Mix’

Lathyrus odoratus

*Neil’s New Harvest*

Sweet Pea Swan Cottage Mix, is a random mix of the best Sweet peas from the garden this year.

Long strong stems and huge frilly blooms, in shades including White, Peach, Blush, Pink, Lavender, Cerise, Blue, Purple and Red.

Hand collected and packed by us, every packet will be different.

NOTE: These hand collected Sweet peas are so incredibly fresh, that they won’t need soaking to re-hydrate them.

How to Grow:

Light triggers Sweet Peas to flower, so starting them early in late Winter is the next best thing to Autumn sowing.

The longer the plants have to grow before flowering starts, the bigger and better your flowers will be.

Seeds will benefit from a bit of warmth for germination.

When sowing seeds, I prefer to plant 3 seeds in a 9cm pot, leaving all 3 seedlings to grow on together until planting the whole pot as a clump.

Space pots at least 22cm apart and provide a strong trellis or support for Sweet peas to climb.

*Unlike garden peas, sweet pea seeds are poisonous if ingested. Unfortunately mice still like to steal them so are best pre-sprouted in doors or on a rodent proof shelf in the greenhouse.

Cutting /Vase Life:
For the longest vase life, pick when the first flower opens leaving two to open in the vase. Sweet peas have a relatively short vase life making them the perfect choice when growing your own.

Place flowers straight into ready buckets of water. We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning.
