Shade loving!
Plants are tolerant of any soil conditions and any position in the garden including pots for the container garden!
The are professional cut flower varieties grown by the experts for the floral industry. Plants have a very long and productive harvesting window, producing large berries for more than 5 weeks during summer.
Long branches and beautiful healthy dark leaves.
Eventual size – height 80-100cm but up to 150cm in my garden, spread 80-100cm +
I find Magical Innocence fruit just a bit earlier than Magical White in my garden, order both for an extended harvest.
Bare Roots:
You can only order bare root plants from late Autumn to late Winter when plants go into natural dormancy. Growers dig them up from their fields to order.
This means the roots will be free of soil and naturally at this time of year shedding their foliage.
Water is lost through the leaves by a process call transpiration. By losing their leaves the plants are protected from drying out and otherwise perishing.
Expect plants to continue shedding leaves once they arrive. Hypericum are semi deciduous. Lovely fresh new growth will emerge spring, or sooner if we have a mild autumn and winter.
What to do when they arrive:
Remove plants from the packaging as soon as they arrive and place plants in a bucket of water so that the roots are entirely submerged. Don’t forget to tie a label on them. Leave them to soak for up to 12 hours (or overnight) before potting up into containers for best results. Plants look pretty sorry for themselves when they first arrive. This is just down to the lack of water. Stems will feel firmer after a soak.
These bare root plants are a generous size, you will need at least a 2 or 3 litre container depending on the size and shape. This will give plants ample room to settle in and start to grow.
Mini Handbook:
Hypericum are very easy plants to grow, however I have included as much information as I can think of to ensure you have the best results, in a free Mini Handbook that will be added to your account dashboard alongside your Handbooks at dispatch.
I hope you enjoy it!
