Description

Cosmos ‘Purity’

Cosmos bipinnatus

Cosmos ‘Purity’ towers over the garden giving armloads of pure white single flowers.

Taller and with more flowers than any other variety I have grown.

Invaluable for weddings as well as being a handsome garden plant. Blooms dance in the breeze attracting bees and butterflies.

How to grow:

One of the easiest annuals to start from seed and not too cold sensitive. Cosmos like moist but well drained conditions.

Sow one seed per cell in early Spring, into a 40 cell tray or sow 5 seeds to a 9cm pot. Cosmos are tolerant of ‘pricking out’.

Seeds will benefit from ‘a bit of warmth’ to germinate.

Plant 30cm apart after the last frost.

Cutting /Vase Life:

Pick as soon as flowers open but before pollinators reach them for the longest vase life. A true cut and come again flower. Deadhead regularly to maintain flowering.  We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning. Cosmos will continue to open and grow in the vase giving arrangements a magical feel.
