Anemone Spring ‘Colour Mix’

These specialty cut flower types are F1 hybrids which entails hand pollination and are therefore, much more expensive to produce. These special corms are usually only available to the professional grower.

Bred to tolerate warmer conditions, this variety is better suited when coping with our Spring heatwaves.

An Autumn ‘Colour Mix’ is also available bred to withstand colder conditions for starting in the Autumn.

Packet size: 10 bulbs

How to Grow:

Corms will arrive in a dehydrated state and need to be soaked in a bowl of water for 12 hours before planting in pots or cell trays of at least 6.5cm square.

Rodents love to steal your precious corms so you need to protect them until the corms develop into plants.

Growing Anemones will be new to most gardeners, so I will be providing step by step growing advice and videos on over on Instagram Stories (its free) and for busy gardeners you can now plan ahead with our Anemone & Ranunculus Handbook

Autumn started corms blooms can bloom as early as Mid February right through March (depending on the weather). However the cold Spring of 2021 delayed the start of flowering and blooms continued into April.

Late Winter / Early Spring started corms generally flower for us from May well into June, again the cold Spring of 2021 delayed flowering and we were still picking the last of the flowers in early July.

Local weather conditions will affect the exact blooming times and Anemones will need frost protection to protect the stems and blooms from damage.

45-60 cm.

Position plants in full sun.

Cutting /Vase Life:

With a vase life of up to 10 days, anemones make a supreme cut flower. For the longest vase life cut when buds are fully formed and look a little like tulips. Place flowers straight into ready buckets of water. We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning.

If you leave the blooms on your plants to enjoy, they will of course produce less actual flowers overall.
