Grow-A-Long Nigella

Update 21st September – we are just seeing germination start now

Nigella is not quite as hardy as some of the other Autumn Jump Starter seeds but over winters beautifully in a cold greenhouse.

Slow growing we will pot on once in January before planting out in the garden early Spring for amazing flowers during summer.

Grow-A-Long Nigella

After the blooms fade, Nigella will create beautiful seed pods. Use these fresh in arrangements for added texture or turn them upside down to dry for everlasting flowers.

For fresh flowers harvest as soon as flowers have coloured up and before the pollinators visit. For dried flowers harvest when seed pods have developed and feel firm to the touch. Use pods fresh in arrangements or you can turn them upside down to dry for a few weeks, this will make them last much longer for use all throughout winter.
